The party was founded on 13 January 2014, and it was registered with the election commission on 6 March 2014. Chairman of ANP is U Aye Maung. ==History== On 17 June 2013, The Rakhine Nationalities Development Party let by U Aye Maung and Arakan League for Democracy let by U Aye Thar Aung signed an agreement to merge under the name of Arakan National Party. The merger is more than eight months in the making, with initial discussions between the two sides begun in late May 2013 In the 2015 general election, the party contested 63 seats in Rakhine State, Chin State, the Ayeyarwady Region, and Yangon.
